Get the word out so other can roll up their sleeves and help make a difference locally or globally.

Volunteer Overview

Getting out and giving some of your time and talents is vital for a healthy community. Peoplemovers has created Volunteer to help organizations and governments post volunteer opportunities so others can get involved, make a difference and enjoy the fun. In minutes, you can spread the word on your volunteer events to thousands of people, organizations and communities.

How It Works
  1. From the “Make a Difference” Navigation Bar Link or from My Profile, click on “Volunteer” and then “Add”.
  2. Choose the Community 2.0™ Website you belong to that you want this post to originate from in “Under” (only available when on Peoplemovers.com Community).
  3. Choose the level of privacy. If you want this post to be broadcast across all communities that follow you, you must choose “Visible to All”
  4. Upload a photo or image of an invitation or poster that has been created for the Volunteer Event. Please use jpeg format.
  5. Create a Title and a Short Description of your Volunteer Event or copy and paste from a website that you want to link to.
  6. Select “Volunteer/Outreach” for the Type of Event and the Community Topic (what’s this) that this Volunteer Event most closely affects.
  7. If you would like to link this Volunteer Event post to a Photo Gallery where people can learn more or see what it’s like (maybe a past event), you can create one or link to an existing one.
  8. Enter the Start and End Date and Time.
  9. Enter the Cost, if any. If none, type “FREE”. If you want people to bring something, you might put it here.
  10. Enter the Location Name, Address, City, Country, State and Zip Code.
  11. Enter the Event Organizer with his or her contact info.
  12. If you want to link to another website, include entire web address in Website Link.
  13. People and groups can RSVP online using this post. However, if you’d like to link to another registration system and disable the RSVP feature of Peoplemovers.com, copy and paste the entire website link they should go to.
  14. Type or copy and paste more Volunteer Event Description information you want to share.
  15. Use the WYSIWYG (“What You See Is What You Get”) Editor if you want to have special font displays, additional web links or photos in your post.
  16. Check “Volunteer Event". Your Volunteer Event will also be posted in the general “Events” section of “What’s Happening”.

Tips for Use
  • Make sure you “Share” your Event with all of your friends and groups and “Broadcast Online” to your favorite social media sites.   This will increase your visibility, increase attendance and draw more people to your Community 2.0™ Website.
  • Become a valuable resource for your community by asking organizations and businesses that are hosting volunteer events to post them on your Community 2.0 Website so more can benefit from them.

  • Ask other organizations with Community 2.0™ Websites to follow you so your Event posts can instantly reach their people and organizations.

  • At your event, make sure you encourage all who attend who are not connected with you online to create a profile and join your community on the Peoplemovers Community Network. It will make the next volunteer events much easier to promote!
